Love the Socket Set
Posted On: 5/14/2013 9:47AM

The other day, I had to install a new starter motor in the Valiant. Luckily it is a fairly easy installation, as it is only held on by two bolts and can be accessed from the top of the car rather than having to crawl underneath. To undo the bolts, I pulled out my trusty 39 piece socket set. Now this is no ordinary socket set: I have owned it for 33 years! My grandfather gave it to me when I was 12. It is a simple entry level socket set that he picked up at K-Mart. However when he gave it to me, I thought it was the greatest tool ever invented. I can remember tearing my bikes apart and rebuilding them just to use it. Over the years, I have built up a fairly decent collection of tools, however, if I could only keep one this would be it. So what tool would you never give up?

I'd give anything for my repairs to be that easy. As far as tools are concerned, I don't have attachment to any of them beyond their expense, usefulness and overall value to me.

I'll never give up my BFH. AKA, my hammer. I've educated many things with it..fence posts, mailboxes, garage doors, pulleys, stubborn plumbing fixtures, etc. When it's time for a BFH something is getting fixed..or broken. :)

I have a pair of wire strippers that I'd never give up. My late brother wrote some joke on the grip about the girl I was dating in 8th grade.
